Appendicitis?

I have abdominal pain. It's near my belly on and in my lower right side... I know this is where my appendix is but I dont want to make a big deal of nothing. I got really bad back pain today too when I was sitting with someone on my lap at my friends house. Please help me tell if this is something to go to the doctor for.
