Opinions on IUDs (no children)?

My girlfriend had the copper one and it worked great, she didnt have any complications with it at all. It was inserted easy and removed just as easy. We got pregnant not to long after and is now on the shot, which caused her periods to be very irregular, she broke out not really bad but bad enough to depress her. So she is now thinking about switching back to the iud.
