Do you believe it is possible to lead a conservative lifestyle as a means to control your budget?

Is it possible to "trim the fat" in an effort to gain ground and build a bank account? It seems to me that no matter how much slack is cut away, someone always comes out of the wood works looking for my money. I think it might be more practical to participate in some of the benefits that money can buy rather than attempting to put money away for savings. Why would someone bother making life more difficult on themself if any hope of future return on sacrifice is null? I don't suggest that anyone goes on a spending spree. However, if a person can find a relatively affordable enjoyable habit then I think that they might be just as well off indulging themself. Simply put, I know that I am more than carrying my weight, and I should have the right to partake in some enjoyable activities regardless of what person X comes forth in an attempt to claim my earned security. If I didn't agree to pay for some service with an exact bill/agreement then those collectors should look elsewhere.
