We've taken both routes from Grand Prairie to Denver more than one, and we prefer to take 35 to Kansas and then 70 into Colorado. Taking 287 and 25 takes you through a lot of tiny towns in west Texas that really slows you down, and there's nothing to see but tumble weed. It's about a 14 hour drive - depending on how many bathroom / food stops you make.
